I also think that the Lootboxes and paid weapons, along with very expensive customization drive away new customers. This is of course me and i don't know others spending habbits. Personally i never see worth spending money on 5-10$ skins because they don't feel like they give me enough, while in other hand i am willing to spend that 10$ for a proper bundle of a lot of customization or just overall cheaply sold varied customization. Either they choose between 10$ skin or 10$ other game. Most customers are propably around average or poor, some picky with prices and others not so much. It also depends on customer, a ritcher customer propably won't have as much trouble buying whole lot of 10$ skins, but those customers are rarer. (Know Warframe does have a lot of monetazation ways, but customization is apparently the most selling aspect, for good reason and devs constantly create more customization for sale) They also sometimes give random 50% less costing platinium (ingame money) deals which make buying those cosmetics very worth it. Warframe sells both cheap and expensive customization, some is dirt cheap and some are very expensive (they sell paint pallets, capes/syadanas, armor, frame helmets, skins, etc). There was also quite a lot of customization so that helped. Know how much win/loses they made with this is unknown, but it certainly made spending extra cash on the game feel worth it because with 10$ you would get quite a lot of stuff. For excample when Guns Of Icarus online (indie game) was still active (with it's small community, which had sometimes bursts of popularity when some youtuber did video about it) they sold skins, paints, decals, etc for both player characters and ships for around 0.20- 5$ depending on skin, paint, etc.
